11/30/2020 – Campbell finishes season runner-up in ASCS Sooner Region points

Wichita, KS – The 2020 race season ended up much as it started for Jeremy Campbell Motorsports, a whirlwind of excitement and disappointment.

When the New Year rolled around the team was excited to begin their first full year of competition with the ASCS Sooner region. With a packed schedule of new tracks and old favorites, the season was full of promise. Then COVID-19 hit and schedules fell apart left and right. Seasons were condensed and schedules reworked. The race season was shorted, and things never really seemed to roll smoothly.

Midway through the year Campbell was leading a non-wing race at 81 Speedway, freshly redesigned and under new management, when he clipped the outside wall and went for a hard tumble.  The next week he came back and put the #10c in victory lane with the ASCS Sooner Region at the same track. Again, all the highs and lows that racing can bring.

Fast forward to Friday, November 6th, the final points show of the ASCS season, rescheduled and condensed from a two day show rained out the week prior. Campbell went into the night 2 points behind defending series Champion Sean McClelland. With more than 40 cars on hand, Campbell did everything right throughout the evening, moving forward in the heat race and qualifiers, setting up a mid-pack starting position in the Main event . In the feature event Campbell stayed ahead of McClelland, with one car between them with only three laps to go. The Championship looked to be within grasp when a late race caution bunched the field up for a restart. A non-points competitor made a wild move around the top, only to run out of real estate and drive into Campbell’s rear tire, cutting it completely and ending the season as the car rolled to a stop.

In his first full year in ASC S competition Campbell finished the season second in points, 12 points out of the lead. The team visited 5 new tracks, and had 9 Top Ten finishes.  The team is now looking forward to 2021, with a return to ASCS Sooner action.
